A New Look to the Heletz–Ashdod Oil Field (Southern Israel): A Non-Conventional Hydrocarbon Deposit in the Easternmost Mediterranean

Heletz–Ashdod oil field is the first deposit to have been discovered in Eastern Mediterranean. This has exploited until present despite its small reserves. However, this area’s tectonic–geodynamic and structural features must be studied more. Based on integrated regional geological–geophysical analysis, it was proposed that Heletz terrane, which includes deposit, nodal structure of terrane a composite part earlier identified Mesozoic belt (MTB). The terrane’s essential tectonic peculiarity MTB’s impact, rotating counterclockwise. Analysis local geophysical data area (gravity, magnetic, seismic) thermal examination testifies complex mosaic composition structure. It proved crystal basement below characterized by specific properties do not coincide with adjacent areas.
